Travis Koehler
Las Vegas, NV 89141
Travis Koehler of Nevada has been recognized posthumously for his heroic actions in giving his life while attempting to save the life of a colleague. On the afternoon of February 2, 2007, Travis and two co-workers were tasked with climbing into a manhole to cut open a pipe and repair a clog that was causing a sewage backup. Despite the prevalence of noxious fumes in the air, one worker went down into the confined space and began to work. He never came out. Travis entered to attempt a rescue, but he, too, died from methane gas and other toxins. A third man attempted a rescue and barely escaped alive. Travis was 26-years-old and is remembered for always being willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors. Travis Koehler continues to be an inspiration and credit to the state of Nevada and to his fellow Americans.
